Am reminded of an often-recognized verse in Proverbs. “Trust in Yah with all your soul—do not lean to your own understanding. In all your ways recognize Him and he shall direct your paths.”

Afterwards it says to “not be wise in your own eyes—revere Yah and depart from evil.”

All three statements rhyme in thought. To obey the Father requires trust, recognition, and reverence towards Him. As a confused vessel upon a series of interchanges, we cannot trust in our own course. No matter how clever or intellectual we appear such reasoning eventually strays us into trouble.

Our existence here on earth, however sturdy, is based on a finite moment. Not one person living today has been around since the beginning of time! In contrast, the Father has existed from the beginning. In the book of Isaiah (Yeshayahu) He says His “counsel shall stand,” “declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things which are not yet done.”

Not only has the Father been around longer than us, His ways have also proven themselves over time. When keeping His law and commandments we are gifted “length of days, long life, and peace.” This is why in Proverbs He oftentimes pleads us to remember this.

“Let not mercy and truth forsake you—bind them around your neck and write them upon the table of your soul.”

A simple message yet also an important one. We must not fasten ourselves to our own driven rationality. Why spend energy devising roadmaps without the Father? He can travel much better than we can.

By acknowledging the Father and submitting our will for His own… we are assured a healthy, steadfast directive.
